Our Mission
The Black Lady Drink Shop is a curated online marketplace dedicated exclusively to non-alcoholic beverages created by Black women founders.
Our mission is to close the visibility gap in traditional retail by intentionally centering the brilliant Black women entrepreneurs leading the future of the alcohol-free beverage industry.
The non-alcoholic category is growing rapidly, and we are here to ensure Black women founders are not just part of the conversation—but are clearly seen, supported, and discovered.
Founder Story
This Started With Experience
The Black Lady Drink Shop was not created from theory—it was built from experience.
For five years, I owned a non-alcoholic wine shop in Chicago. I didn’t just observe this movement from the outside; I lived inside it.
What I Learned
The non-alcoholic beverage space is vibrant, fast-growing, and full of extraordinary creators.
But as a Black woman operating within it, I also encountered deeper structural realities around access, distribution, and opportunity.
Over time, I was forced to confront a difficult question: Why am I continuing to invest my time, energy, and resources into an ecosystem where the return—financially and structurally—does not reflect fairness or reciprocity?
That question changed everything.
Why I Shifted
Closing my physical storefront was not an ending. It was a realignment.
I stepped back not because I stopped believing in the alcohol-free movement, but because I refused to participate in it in the same way. I wanted my work, my data, and my expertise to reflect my core values:
-
Equity over extraction
-
Curation over scale
-
Impact over volume
-
Ownership over participation
What I Built Instead
The Black Lady Drink Shop is the result of that shift.
It is a curated marketplace dedicated exclusively to non-alcoholic beverages created by Black women founders. Every product is selected with deep intention—not only for its quality, but for the story, craft, and woman behind it.
